I have had my tank for about 4 months and today took out the black bubble trap sponge on top of the return pump to clean. Wondering if I should just leave it out?
Has anybody taken this out? Am I the only one that has it in?
Just wondering.

I keep mine in, I have had I’d out and I do notice some micro bubbles in the display. I give it a quick rinse when I do a water change.

I had the same tiny bubbles can’t figure out where they come from but rinsed it out and put the sponge back in.

I run a skimmer in the chamber next to the return pump, the bubble trap sponge divides the two. Do you run a skimmer?

That’s where your bubbles will come from. I started with a reefer 170 nice clean looking tank but didn’t like the cube look so I ended up with a reefer 250.
