Anyone have experience/information on earmuff wrasses (H. melasmapomus)? I am having trouble finding information on temperament, size, growth rate, personality, and tank mates.

Thanks!

Should be the same as all other halichoeres as far as temperament. They do get large around 10".

Hope that helps.

Even though they get larger, their temperment is on pr with small Halichoeres species.

They're (at least mine is) puppy dogs. Mine is more than twice the size of any other wrasse in the tank and bothers absolutely no one. Great Haliocheres choice if you have an adequately sized tank. Mine has grown quite fast.

This was a year ago. He's grown quite a bit since then.

Sounds like I'll be waiting until I have a larger tank... He's gorgeous! Does he bother shrimp?

There are pistol shrimp, coral banded shrimp, blood shrimp and skunk cleaner shrimp in the tank and he does not bother any of them. YMMV.
