Ecotech vectra return pump swap

Anyone who has a backup vectra return pump, has anyone swaped out just the return pump but kept same controller and power cable that was already installed?

I tried it once when I wanted to service/clean my vectra, but it would not run unless I also swapped out the controller. Curious if there is an easy way to get this to work.

I just got a replacement from them yesterday and was able to just swap the pump, no need to do anything with the controller or power cable. It worked just fine.

Hmm ok. Will need to try again. I hadn’t tried it in a while and last time I did, the controller flashed and the pump wouldn’t power on unless I swapped out controllers.

I am about at that time where I need to clean it, and assumed I wouldn’t be able to just swap pumps, and now my controller is not in a place that is really convenient to replace it.

I have two Y’ed on my return I never pay attention to which one is connected to which controller when I take them out and clean them. You do need to power them off entirely though. You can’t just remove from the quick connect and reattach
