I need some serious education, in all the differences within Tunze pumps. I see them for sale, used, all the time, but have NO IDEA what any of the model numbers mean. For instance, I'll see Tunze 6000 or Tunze 6100 or even more confusing, Tunze 6100.10. I Google all of these and come up with nothing...lol.

Then I read about Tunze with a different transformer, Tunze that are controllable and non-controllable, Tunze controllers with different model numbers. Argh!!! It's all too much!!

I have a 200 deep dimension and would like to at least learn about different options for more controllable flow.

I really want to know more about them. Can someone PLEASE take me to "Tunze School?"

The Tunze stuff can be quite confusing. I don't know much about them but if you want to learn about different options for controllable flow, have you looked at the Vortech powerheads? You will always find a big debate over which is better but they are easily the market leaders (Tunze and Vortech).

There website is pretty thorough, at least for current models...

I have looked at Vortech and read a lot of the debate...lol. I do like the ability to adjust the angle of the Tunze, which isn't available with Vortech.

Thanks, I'll be checking out that link. I think the biggest problem I've faced, so far, is when trying to get information on older models, that are being sold, used, on some of the forums. Since they're no longer "current" models, I can't seem to ever find any useful information on them.

With Tunze stream pumps the higher the # the higher the fow. The 6100 is the older stlye pump which is now called the 6105. The body is different on the new style and can be moved in more directions in the tank where the old pump was pretty much side to side where the new one can be moved up and down. There might be a bit of total flow output but would say the old and new are close to the same IMO. The difference between the 6000 and the 6100 is the puck(power supply) the 6000 puck produces less flow where the 6100 puck has more but the pump itself is the same on both. If I can remember corectly anything 6000 and up can be used with a controller where the others cant. Maybe that helps some. Ive changed to Vortecs so its been awhile since I run them

I see your comment about the directionality of the tunze's... I run vortechs and, FWIW, you don't need to be able to point them. The flow is so broad that it gets everything anywhere near its path.
