Eel ID?

Anyone know what type of eel this is? A little over a foot long. At the store no one knows much about it. They say its just kind of a generic one they came across. In the same tank as a large zebra eel and they seem to get along so far. Both eating squid and shrimp

Haha, you beat me to it, i had one of those, it is indeed a gymnothorax tile and it is indeed a fangtooth

This is called a gymnothorax tile, it is a fangtooth so a combination of different foods is preferred, feeding him too much shrimp can cause deficiencies, they can grow to about 2 feet in length but not as much in girth, it's commonly a bit hard to keep since when they are a juvenile they live in fresh and when adult in brackish but to breed in salt, I've kept them successfully in salt when he was a juvenile, a sustainable diet of mollies and a variety of foods will sustain it for a long time

Thinking for now I'm going to keep him in the same tank with the zebra as they are getting along great. Even staying in the same Pvc tube together. Feeding every 3 or 4 days while young. When they get larger I'm going to put in a larger tank. For now a mix of squid and shrimp and the occasional saltwater mollie or two. Anything else I should add inm

If you can get some mussels they are highly recommended since they contain a high amount of vitamin b1, if you have a little more time in your hands, I recommend feeding the zebra or the G. Tile, some crab meat, you can get a crab and pull out the soft meat from inside, they are highly nutritious and my zebra absolutely loves it and the same goes for my other fangtooths
