Eel identification

A friend sent me an eel from Hawaii more than a year ago and I have researched a bit towards determining what species it may be but nothing really stands out as an exact match, so I'd appreciate some help with the ID of this lil guy

About 7 inches and dark brown with very minimal tan/orange speckeling, dark mouth lots of needle teeth, and a lighter ring around the eyes yellow/tan eyes

yes I was told it may be some kind of dwarf moray, but id like to try and narrow it down further

how large is it at the moment? most dwarfs shouldn't reach over 2 feet.

I gave a description in my initial post and i'm aware of dwarf size ranges, like I commented I have done a bit of investigation to try and narrow it down but I find there isn't a huge index with detailed descriptions. Collected from Hawaii possibly dwarf species
