Wow that’s pretty large!
Yeah! They love the room. I had two in my old 125 and upgraded. Then I got my zebra eel. They are really thick and get about 5 feet but are so gentle. Shes a sweet heart! She makes the other 3 look tiny though.

This is Ivar my Jeweled moray when he was a baby and him now
They are so cute!

I need the breeders to start selectively breeding bigger clowns. I could see the chaos of a clown the size of a trigger. 🤣

The recommendation for minimum tank size in that link is 75 gallons for that eel. Also needs a sand bed deep enough to burrow so that just its head sticks out.
We must be looking at different things. The link I sent says 20g for a cusk eel (blenny).

Scroll down towards the bottom where it has tank requirements for a Yellow Cusk Eel. It does say 20 gallons on that care facts sheet but it also says 75 gallons down below where there are more details. It’s confusing, they should fix it but I doubt too many people are looking at that page.

Not for 15 gallon, but an Echidna rhodochilus (white cheek moray) might work in like a 40B
No, I firmly believe any kind of smaller morays need at least a 75 gallon.

15 G is too small for eels. Snowflake eels will grow to at least 24 inches and also become much thicker.

Hello everyone, I have been getting a lot of different answers online but I wanted to know if there are any Eels that could fit in a 15 gallon tank if it had significant rock to hide in. Thanks in advance.
The smallest eel is a garden eel. I personally don’t even think of them as an eel. They need a no rock tank, with 4” sandbed. They literally live in the sand.

Second smallest eel is called a golden dwarf moray eel. Looks almost white, not golden or yellow. Make sure not to get confused with the banana eel. Minimum is probably 30, so if you upgrade down the road it’ll work

I said it before but Ill say it again, 75 gallons should be the BARE minimum for any of thw smaller morays. A 30 gallon tank is no place for an eel even the golden dwarf. These fish need room to swim, stretch out, and have multiple dens and rocks to swim in and out of.

You said a 75 is fine for a snowflake eel, which gets 36”…

A golden dwarf (which reaches 12”) is absolutely fine in a 30 gallon. It will have room to stretch out, swim, and have multiple dens. A 12” eel is tiny!

Snowflakes get to be 24 inches not 36. I have a full grown one. Shes 2 feet. I said bare minimum 75 gallons. They do a lot better in larger tanks. I personally wouldnt keep an eel in anything less than a 4 foot long tank.

And no a foot long fish is not a “tiny” fish. I stand by what I said, 30 gallons is no where near enough for any 12 inch fish. You also dont realize that eels get extremely thick as they get older and grow. Its not a pencil sized 12 inches its a very thick 12 inch fish. Again 30 gallons is very inappropriate for any species of moray eels.

We in the hobby have a responsibility to give our fish more than a “bare minimum” home for our fish. As someone who has 4 moray eels I will continue to advocate for them and help give good advice to people like OP who ask about them and share what Ive learned keeping them. They are very misunderstood fish and they teach me something about them every day.
