After the initial transferHere is my Facebook marketplace place 40 gallon with a home made PVC AIO baffle. Siliconed in with GE silicone 1. I transferred everything from my 29 gallon nano to this one.![]()
Currently, after fragging the Pandora for my LFS, and gluing some to the PVC baffle. After the initial transfer
So that is the 165w and I have it at like 40%blue only 6hrs on a smart power strip. So you can see in the last photos. I had it at 60%blue and 10%white for a day and all my zoas including the Pandora looked crispy. Down side there is no slow ramp up or down. So far, I think it's way to strong for my 40 gallon. It does come with an adjustable pulley and cables. How bright are those lights? I keep seeing them on amazon and it seems like a pretty good no BS light for the money. They make a big long one too.
Not bad! I mean, visually anyway. Looks like a decent full-spectrum thing with both.Full power blue and white and the only light on.....
It'll all go away and it will look nice overnight. And no, it takes a long time to get that stuff clean. So, water parameters are good, I think I finally have this light high enough to not cook my zoas. Just did my last mid-week water change before I go back to my normal schedule. Everything looking better. Just hating i didn't wash the Carib-sea Dry Aragonite sand more. I really don't think it's possible to get that stuff 100%clean. I rinsed the carbon sponge (in the old salt water) I have at my overflow catching loose detritus, and still clouded the aquarium......
30 of the 40lbs of sand was live from my 29gallon , and same with the rock. Also, 1 of the 2 liters of the seachem matrix was from the previous tank as well. I believe in providing as much bio filtration as possible. I love using the Aragonite sand because of the size, but it seems no matter how much I wash it, I always get clouds. It'll all go away and it will look nice overnight. I would recommend you go to floridapets.com and order a small quantity of their live sand. It's not much and believe me when I say it's worth it.
Unless that rock in your tank is live...then you should be golden. I highly recommend some live sand or live rock though. It's very important. I feel that I screwed up by buying dead rock and sand. Took me two years for the tank to become alive. @floridapets saved me from having to chuck all the rock and sand to start over. I put their mud in my refugium and an equal amount of their sand in my tank....a year later, it's a zoo in there.
I spend a good hour or two a day snooping around my tank, removing dead chromis (lol) and just mostly observing my corals. And that's aside from general maint. I would just sit back and watch how things do after 3 weeks or so. take pics now and then compare.
I should also note that it was going for two years before the transfer.30 of the 40lbs of sand was live from my 29gallon , and same with the rock. Well it abrades too as you're washing it around and that releases cloudiness too, so in theory, if you're aggressively washing it, it can keep getting cloudy to a degree.30 of the 40lbs of sand was live from my 29gallon , and same with the rock. I appreciate the input, my previous tank was a Fowler until I started adding zoas and palythoas about 3 months ago. Then I had this aquarium and stand fall in my lap for $50. $400 in accessories later and I get my current setup. The pumps I got were a little strong though, so I only have 1 going full time and the other on a schedule for a wave pump. I am also using a smart surge protector to schedule everything, and finally got a true auto top off system. I truly plan to make this a huge zoa and palythoa garden. I am excited to get it going, but I admit I do sometimes rush things. So, I am not plan on adding much any time soon. My current stock is two clowns, a lawnmower blenny, and a Bangai Cardinal. Clean up crew is one astra snail, one spiny astra snail, a boat load of little clear or white sponges, and a boat load of these little tiny snails that are beast at cleaning but don't really grow. Corals I have 3 bam bam plugs, I misc purple zoa with orange skirt, 1 sidewinder zoa, 1 green paly, 1 Capt jerk, 2 rasta plugs, a massive Pandora colony that I fragged and glued some on my PVC baffle, and a dragon favia (red and green). I want to add more fish, but haven't decided on what.Well it abrades too as you're washing it around and that releases cloudiness too, so in theory, if you're aggressively washing it, it can keep getting cloudy to a degree.30 of the 40lbs of sand was live from my 29gallon , and same with the rock.
