Egg Crate Color

So I broke the egg crate in my Trigger System sump in the baffle right b4 the return section. This was black. Is it really THAT important whether or not it is black or white?

Shouldn't be, just don't do the reflective eggcrate. The silver finish will flake off in the water.

I would say athletically it looks better. And also helps hide any algea or sludge that could grow on it. But functionally it would be the same regardless of color.
