Eheim 1262 as an external pump

Ive been rolling around whether to go with eheim or sicce since the price is pretty much the same. Im leaning toward eheim but it just dawned on me Ive only ever seen or heard of people using them as internal pumps, and since im running 2 dt's on one sump the extra space would be nice, do they perform any differently when plumbed?

I used a eheim 1262 as the return pump on my 240. Worked great.

I used to run one on a closed loop, seemed to work just fine.
