Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I am finishing a metal stand for a new 180 build. I want to build a recessed cabinet on one end of the stand

to house an Apex, modules, power strips and dosing pumps. How deep would this cabinet need to be? Is 6” deep enough?

So the trade off is accessibility vs storage area.
Its much easier to get your hands in 6 inches deep vs 10.
But that dosing container requires 10, for example.
Sounds like you have the room.
6 would house most electrical, but deeper if dosing containers.
Awesome stand.
You could quit your day job.
Unless thats it.

I made a external cabinet to house my Apex and modules. I have a false wall and behind it is all the cables tied up neat and the bricks. th e cabinet is 8 inches and to be honest I could have added two more inches because it’s a tight fit with everything

Thank you for the input and feedback. I own a NDE company here in Houston and we do some small scale fabrication mostly for R&D for the Petrochemical and Power Industries. So it’s a small part of my day job. But honestly building this stand has been the only time in quite a while where I could check out and work with my hands again.
I plan on putting any dosing containers in the wet portion of the stand and only housing the pumps in the cabinet so I’ll shoot for 6”.

I can definitely squeeze an 8” cabinet in the stand. Not sure I want to go much deeper than that. I will be running a 48” bashsea sump and all of the filtration and reactors will be in the sump but I am looking at a either a Dastaco or Geo calcium reactor to fit next to the sump so I want to leave enough room to house everything. Thank you for your input.

Make sure to post pics of the finished product.

My last tank I built did an electronics enclosure in the side for Apex stuff and it was 8 inches deep. It worked for everything but If I were doing it again I would have did 10-12 inches and had a removable panel at 8 inches.

I am setting up another tank and doing the same thing except I built it 12 inches deep specifically for GHL equipment.

I thought about doing the same removable panel but instead are planning to put a false wall on the inside of the tank with magnets to cover the wiring and hide power supplies
