Been encountering some odd zoanthid die off and growth in my tank for at least a month or so. ICP results came back pretty clean except for elevated Iodine/Potassium and Mg (1600). I was dosing some lugols but have discontinued and noticed no improvements. Mg was the result of a bad test kit, and then dosing based on it. Water changes are not making the tank any better... I do not use any hand creams, lotions, etc. No change in cleaning products.

None of these are likely to be an issue, IMO.

Maybe it is lack of a trace element, not an excessive trace element.
I would agree with you that none of these are to the levels that are super high, and result in huge issues. However the elevated zinc plus aluminium indicates there is something amiss, that I would like to correct before it gets too high.

I found it interesting that there was no Tin present. Am I looking for possible metal corrosion here or only a magnet?

I would not assume there is something to find, but certainly some sort of corroding metal part could explain the zinc.

Aluminum may be partly from the salt mix, maybe from some sort of white media used (do you use anything for nitrification, denitrification, or phosphate binding?) or artificial rocks.

Suspect 1: In my mixing station I had a ton of magnets (from korlia nano) fully submerged together to mix salt water.

I use tropic marine pro and see crap at the bottom of the mixing container.

See below. Heater also had a black residue on the rubber part come off as soon as I touched it.

Suspect 2: RMS bracket that holds the middle light over the overflow with some orange discoloration. It will not rub off, although material feels like a heavy plastic.

Suspect 3: Murlock fitting being used with My carbon reactor. This fitting is submerged in the sump.
