I want to make sure I actually have an emerald crab. That’s what it is supposed to be but he’s turned into a furry as heck crab. Maybe it’s just algae growth on him?

I added a video so you can see his body moving. Hopefully it’s viewable!

This is as good as I can get. I tried to get him out of his hidey hole but he wasn’t having it!

He kind looks like emerald but cant be sure. Lot crabs will decorate themselves with algae and things from your tank but cant remember emeralds doing that. Is he bothering things or are you wanting him for a certain task and you need an emerald for that?

I know people say get an emerald crab he will eat all your algae and bubble algae but retailers and reefers online say that about all kinds of critters and your milage will vary. Most stuff you read is just hot air. Algae is from too much nutrients...over feeding or inmature tank...ugly stages not balanced out and takes time and manual removal....lot of patience

Nah, he’s fine! Mostly just curious about him since he has gone so rogue from a “normal” emerald crab. He’s not hurting anything or getting written up at work!
