Emerald Crab Question

Thinking about getting one to fight bubble algae like everyone else, but are they a risk to my other inverts? Currently have 1 gold banded shrimp, two small cleaner shrimp, handful of hermits and snails. Tank size, 30 gallons.

No, unless one of then dies or is injured, etc. Also, for bubble algea, crabs are not the answer. Algea fix is. Will also kill ALL other algea. Ask me how I know.
Heres the thing about bubble algea, one the bubble is popped with whatever method, the spores release in the water and it will spread everywhere...

Don’t listen to the above. You do not want to use a chemical to control algae if you can help it.

An emerald should handle bubble algae. But not all do. I’d recommends 3-5 of them. They won’t eat or attack anything alive.

Or pitho crabs if you can find them. They really eat bubble algae. Like crazy.

I had an emerald crab and all my bubble algae were gone. Although I didn’t have that many bubble algae. It also nibble at some of my corals at times. Cheers.

My LFS has two, I don't have a crazy amount but it's starting to grow more and I really hate it. I may try one at first and go from there.

I think you where on the right track with this post. Control algae with predation. My emerald eats bubble algae.

I also think you got some questionable advice to use a bottle or chemical solution. Personally I don't add chemicals to my aquarium.

As for your original question my emerald is a model citizen with his tank mates. I believe yours will be also

I have 2 pitho crabs. They don’t bother my normal cuc but they do go HAM on the massive collonista snail population I have. At least I think they’re collonistas! They may be too small to be collonistas. But the pithos munch on them all night long. They don’t make a dent in the population thankfully :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:
