Got this guy from my LFS a few weeks ago. Was in the tank with other emeralds. Was told it was the same species. Just a different color. Anyone had any experience with this coloration of emerald before? Thanks.

Well....... emerald crabs are called such, because they are emerald green.

I’m not sure you have an emerald crab.

Let’s see who else chimes in.

Emerald crabs come in green and red. My LFS has both. Only real difference I know of is, most people say the green ones are better at eating bubble algae.

Looks like a red Mithrax Crab. Does it have hairy legs? I can’t quite tell. Excellent algae eater and mostly model citizens.

Not to hairy of legs, maybe she shaves them. [emoji23]. Has been grazing on the rocks and eating nori. My lemon peel swims up next to him like they would to a cleaner shrimp. He just waves her off. Doesn’t really show any aggression.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
