EMERGENCY; Seam Leak Last Night

You need to get Super Glue Silicone on the top where it first started leaking, this stuff is incredibly strong, one of the very few glues that really work in emergency, it works in wet and better in dry, then empty water down to leak and try and get it dry then apply Super Glue silicone right over the seam, use painters tape to keep the lines straight, have tape no longer on than two minutes or you will never get if off, then work your way down top to bottom of seam, apply two applications, and then when you are ready you need to redo manufactures silicone with a good aquarium silicone, and then apply Super Glue Silicone on top of it all over both sides when tank is empty, it's best to redo the entire tank, do two applications. This Super Glue Silicone worked great for me when one of my tanks leaked, see bottle below, you can get it on Amazon

I think it is for this emergency, looking at his pictures I had the same leak, and the treatment that I explained worked very well for me, you want to get working on this as soon as possible, and if it gets worse then combo methods may be needed like a strap with Super Glue Silicone underneath for it will stop the emergency, I have the experence doing this, do you have any? You want to try and fix this emergency as soon as possible, then like I explained you need to do a complete redo which is really not that hard.

Yes, I do have experience with this… we use aquarium silicone sealant, or various other specialized products…. Definitely not super glue… and super glue definitely isn’t smeared over the new silicone joint after completely rebuilding the tank in a typical application…

Aquarium silicone sealant is not enough, you need to use specialized products with it once there is a leak, never use just super glue like you stated, you have to use a specialized super glue that is made for Silicone, just using basic super glue will not work, it has to be specialized for silicone and then it will work, be leave me I have the experence doing this and it worked, for over two years going now with no leaks.

I’m very curious if the silicone separated from either the tank wall glass or eurobrace glass in that corner too…

The failure looks like a typical peel failure, starting at the top of a vertical seam, slowly working its way down… that should also exhibit as a separation of the silicone eurobrace seam in that corner!

It Started at the top but I tried to re-silicone that part so it's still black. Bubbles also in the Center, It didn't have them till I filled it with water

Oof, yeah… water pressure is a cruel mistress…

interestingly, silicone forms a chemical bond with glass! Once the glass:glass silicone bonded seam is compromised (not the thin non-structural beads of silicone on tank interior); it’s time to cut it all out and redo, or replace the tank!

Was the eurobrace also compromised at the glass:glass silicone joint adjacent to the silicone failure? Or is this TBD once you can get a better look at things?

100% Level. It was Built in 2017 by CDA. It has been in a house Dry for the last 4 years. Then Moved. It could have happened anytime in that period. I have a New Water Glass on the way

Sounds like the red sea scandal, you sure they aren't partner companies?

they are no longer in Business, Red Sea has Diversified so much the other products could hold them up if the tank making side failed. If you only make tanks that Leak and and't have another division you go out of business.

I also heard a lot of bad things about red seas salts. Ive never had anything from them never plan on it either. Im glad youre getting sorted though. How is your livestock doing?

They are Great, they have Been in the Tub Before. Its like a Vacation home for them
