So even when the average interaction of a fish within a specific species is said to be non aggressive, non aggressive and so on. That has to be taken with a certain amount of caution still.
A buddy of mine got a 450 system going. Only to had a purple last. And the dude went on mercing about half his fish! Funny thing is, the tank he was in he was a model citizen. Something changed in his mind! He/she took out a blue face angle that was quite larger than him, he was slicing up all kinds of fish, including a yellow.
Then here is a tank like mine with no issues from the purples. Instead one of my yellows wanted to murder the smaller purple for about a week and it stopped one day out of nowhere.
My angles have the typical sparing of a second going on then it all stops. It’s any given Sunday if you ask me. I had a small issue when I put the pair of maroons in the tank. The tangs decided it was open season on my maroons. Then the female went nuts on them. And a day/two later it stopped. But the tangs had the maroon ring of death them. Haha!
Marin fish need sleeping hideouts, the more fish the more you need, food is a must in abundance, and of course space to a degree. You can’t do 6 tangs that average out in the 7-10” range in a 3-4’ tank and not see aggressive actions.
Bottom line what works for one persons system, might not work for you, and vis versa.
If you do get them in the end, keep an eye out on them.
