Emperor angelfish with coral

That’s awesome! I love all of those angels. I’m glad to hear they haven’t bothered corals and they get along with each other for the most part. I want to try a queen, emperor, blue face and majestic in my 270. Think it’s worth the risk?

I have a full grown Emperor & a full grown Blonde Male Naso in a 220 with a couple of smaller tangs, etc. & I’m already wondering how long they will be ok in there with enough room to swim.
The video is from 18 mos ago & the corals along the top have grown a lot. The only one that has been bothered is the green one on the left & I think it’s because my husband was under-feeding them while I was in the hospital.

I’m surprised the queen doesn’t dominate. I figured it would be a toss up between those two. What size is your tank? I would love to get them all or swap one of them out for an Annualaris.

I would not recommend an Annularis for a Reef Tank.
I do have an Emperor and a Majestic (Biota). I got both as juveniles and they are now adults.
I did have a juvenile Annularis at some point last year but he really went for LPS including Euphillias that the other 2 (in general) leave them alone.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. If I can find a blue line I would probably take that over an annularis anyway.

Have you ever tried a blue line or blue face?

I've got five species of angel in my 220; Euphyllia / Fimbriophyllia are okay so far, most other LPS are going to come in for a nip here and there. I've got a big old colony of Palythoa which have so far handled the emperor's (lord of the tank) attentions, but any zoanthids I've ever introduced have lasted less than seconds before becoming snacks. SPS and a green cabbage leather are - so far - nicely colored and growing, though polyp extension is minimal to nonexistent.

Leathers like Sinularia & other leathers, palythoas, waving hands Anthelia, mushrooms, anemone, the finger leather shown in the picture could use some trimming

An annularis wouldn't be a bad choice either but they do get fairly beefy.

The emperor is the most dominant in this tank as well despite the annularis being bigger and older.

Now that’s an incredible tank you have there. Bravo. I did hear Annularis are a higher risk with corals but man does that blue glow on them.

Torches and hammers, so basically anything that move slightly, look toxic perhaps? I’ve had some before and got hit with velvet. I’ve restocked them with the last 2 months — not touching any corals. See video & my build thread.

Aggression: yes, my Blue is a bully but he settled down after a day/two after introducing new fish.

That + plenty of hiding spots and space to swim! Avoid getting ich / velvet outbreaks! ;)

I’m upgrading my 90 to a 275. Tank will be 84”x30x25. Think I could get away with an emperor, blue face, annularis, regal and majestic?

I think you might for awhile but for big fish I have the Emperor at maybe 12” & a Blonde Naso male at 13” in my 6’ tank I I sometimes watch & wonder if they have enough swimming room.

Mine aka El Heffe ( the boss ) got pretty aggressive as he got older but other fish ( tangs, wrasse, etc ) just got used to it. He even made a kind of bass rumble noise when he chased the other fish. As far as corals, it was a little hit or miss. Def couldn’t keep Zia’s. Occasionally he developed a taste for a torch. Mushrooms were fine. He did develop HLLE but he beat it by loading g up on lots of nori. Eventually flukes got him ( after 5 years in my tank ) Best of luck!
