I designed my rock structure in my tank so that there will be plenty of space for animals to swim and rest on. However, after a while I feel like the empty space in the sand is too empty and should be decorated. Are there any inverts/corals that would make that area more lively

Acans, brains, scolys, welsos, trachys, and plates are all good corals for a sand bed. You could also make a little island on your sand with green star polyps.

For inverts, hermits, Nassarius snails, serpent/brittle stars are good. You could also get a shrimp. Maybe a cleaner, coral banded, or blood shrimp?
