Empty tank hard waterline cleaning

I bought this tank used and have been meticulously trying to bring it back to almost new condition. I’m having a hard time getting these hard water stains to come up. Any suggestions? The citric acid and scottbite pad aren’t clearing it up

Are you sure it's hard water stains?

If it's glass, what does a razor do?

Use white vinegar, just clean the residue off when all the deposits are dissolved. Should be fine

best way I ever found to clean glass was with a razer blade. I recommend investing in a handle to hold the blade, scraper tool. They are pretty cheap.

+1 for razor blade. You can even use vinegar to soften any tough spots before you scrape them off if necessary

For stubborn deposits lay paper towels on entire area then spray vinegar on them. The paper towel will hold the vinegar on the surface of the glass where you need it and the moisture in the vinegar will make the paper towel stay where you want it. You may need to gently wipe or roll out any air bubbles.

I would also add that razor blades scrape very well but can leave scratches on the glass. A glass scraper would be better.

Even with a window scraper i still lightly smooth the corners with a diamond hone to prevent scratches.

Have you tried citric acid solution? I’m not sure what vinegar would do to silicon seams but it sure is harsh on pump o rings and plastic.
