So I’ve gotten back into SPS this last year, most are doing well.

My question is that sometimes with encrusted frags, upon introduction to my tank, the edges of the encrusted base turn white for a few weeks until they “regrow” onto the base.

Is that normal? Just acclimating to the new parameters?

Just throwing out a guess but sense hard corals tend to loose a little color from expelling zooanthelle when first added, maybe those areas with a thinner skeleton have less zooanthelle and they lose most of their color.

Yes, sometimes that happens. When parameters don't match they do need time to settle in. Some take longer than others.
