I recently discovered a crab that i dont remember purchasing. I bought a couple (so i think) of emerald crabs a while ago and 1 just died a few weeks ago. I all of a sudden now spot a much larger one with big black claws with white tips on the end. I dont remember seeing it in the bag. I dont have a pic because its usually under an overhanging rock and i can get a good shot. Any ideas?

If it looks like this below, yes otherwise Pic will help us help you.

It looks like an emerald crab but its much bigger than the other one and its black, not grey like the smaller one

I have an emerald crab that is every bit of 2+ inches. He actually has the unique honor of being my kid’s favorite thing in the reef. “Mr. Pinchy” is pretty bold and will guard the algae clup I put in occasionally for him.

Ok, just dont want it to be eating my livestock.. ive had 1 fish die recently missing its tail, and a cardinal benggie completely go missing... l have turned rocks and moved sand, its completely vanished

I love emerald crabs. I have 5 in my tank and wanna get more. yep its a emerald crab I have one that is 2.7 or so inches big. Godzilla of emerald crabs lol. they are great for a clean up crew =]

Its an emerald. Just watch it around zoas to assure its not bothering them

sounds like some have had issies with emeralds. mine must be well behaved. I don't even see fights considering I have 5 in a 40g but hoping to up it to 10. pushing to limits . crab fight club haha

My smaller one is missing one of its claws i just noticed
nice battle scars. I hear they will fight. they eat good? they are optimistic eaters and usually will look for food at night when lights are off. they like algae and if you do not have any will make anything a meal from what I hear if there is no food for em.
