Engineer Goby and clean up crew

Does anyone have experience or good idea what I can put in with two 12 inch Engineer Gobies to help eat waste and what not off the live rock. I tried a Brittle Star, they ate it.

Maybe an Armadillo. Lol! Couldn't resist.

That's pretty amazing though, depending on the size of the Brittle Star. I can only imagine how many new hobbyist buy an inch-long Engineer Goby at their LFS and have no idea what they are taking home to their tank.

These guys are like 10 years old. I had them in a different system, but I had to many tanks going. I put these guys in 180 cause I've had them so long. I knew what I was purchasing when I got them, but like I said I've combined them and this tank has a lot of rock.

No, I wasn't being critical of you. But I knew someone who put two tiny ones in a 32-gallon BioCube and literally had to re-home them within 6 months as they basically grew before his eyes!

Curious though... did yours eat a fairly small Brittle Star, or could you try a giant Serpent Star?

It was decent size, I would say maybe a little smaller then your hand. I thought maybe a brittle star with the spines would be better then a serpent star ?

It's difficult to say, it might unfortunately be a little bit or trial and error. But the 'very' large Serpent Stars seem to have quite hard exoskeletons-- assuming your E. Gobies aren't attacking the arms.
