Enjoying, Feeding, Cleaning, Researching, Chatting: How much time do you spend reefing?

I work at a salt water shop in Utah full time. And I have my own tank. So yes. 40 hours or more easily in salt water tanks.

Well I currently work at a reef shop 40 hours a week and then take care of my personal displays during time off... safe to say I am quite always reefing.

I have numerous critter hobbies. Honestly, if I just stuck to "chores" necessary to keep everything running smoothly, it would be maybe 1 hour per week, but I end up immersed in simple things for far longer than required. I guess that's the nature of a hobby. Staring at your tank for several hours per week may not seem very productive, but it makes you more cognizant of all the intimate details you might miss otherwise.

I put 5. Maybe a bit more. Not counting time on this site and watching YouTube reefing videos. That would maybe double it to 10 hours.

If someone asks me how much time a water change takes i always answer:

15 minutes
1 hour including driving to the LFS and picking up the fresh seawater
2 hours including chatting with the LFS owner and looking at his stock.
+1 hour afterwards admiring my own tank after the water change and cleaning

15 minutes feeding
5 hours watching the tank
10 hours researching / shopping
10 hours dreaming

I am an addict and I like it

Agreed especially the dreaming part lol

I spend at least 2 hours a day. But then again oh, I'm retired. So there is always something I can take with or read
