I was wondering if any of you guys know a good UV light for a Red Sea 350 because all my tangs have Ich and are acting strange. Either way it’ll help with algae as well which I want. Please help!

If you look on the Aqua UV or Pentair website they will give recommendations based on the gallons you have and what your goal is.

UV will help manage ich but will not treat an active infection. At that point you need meds.

Medicating but need to be sure I can also keep the Ich population down.

You will be able to use the UV either for disease or algae, but not both. For disease the flow rate must be low, too low to have an effect on algae. For algae the flow rate must be high, too high to sterilize disease. Only way around this is to have two UVs. Just an FYI before you buy.

Is this the same tank with ich post June 2024?

I need something really low budget as well though and those options seem a bit expensive

Low flow increases dwell time which is required to kill multi cell parasites. Single cell algae will most certainly be killed with high dwell time

If UV sterilizer is needed for algae control only, increase flow rate and reduce dwell time

I’ll lower my flow in the tank right now and see if that helps fish already out more and swimming today so maybe they’ve gotten a bit better

What are you medicating with?

Free swimming larvae are the only time that ick life cycle is vulnerable to treatment.

What is in your water that is presently controlling ich?

Kordon Ich Attack

“Kordon Ich-Attack® is an easy to use treatment composed of 100% multiple organic ingredients for all types of external and epidermal single-celled infections. It's broad spectrum of activity and lack of toxicity makes Ich-Attack effective without requiring a specific diagnosis“

Note: “single cell infections”

@Jay Hemdal
Does this product control or effect ich life cycle? Best I can tell, it treats symptoms.

Ich Attack is one of the unproven “herbal” additives on the market. They aren’t popular because they work, they’re popular because they are easy to use and don’t harm invertebrates. I won’t use them, no listed ingredients, no proven track record. Remember there is absolutely no oversight on aquarium fish medications - anyone can sell anything and make any claims they want to about it….
