Eshopps Eclipse S, a little loud, any suggestions?

+1000 on this. Raise the red tube up and problem solved. Was seriously bummed about the noise of this overflow and the early advice on this thread was spot on!

Yep. I also adjusted the return outlet and powerheads so it creates a little slack zone right in front of the weir of the front box and its even quieter.

I also turned down down the flow from my Sicce Syncra 2.0 return pump, and the overflow is now almost silent

You'll have to raise your emergency drain, and make the water level in your outside box higher than the top opening of the nut connecting the two. This'll make it dead silent. I battled with this as well, and ended up pulling the tubing that comes with it for the emergency drain and replacing it with a piece of red PVC tubing that was slightly longer. I'll try to snap some pictures when I get home from work this afternoon. Basically whats happening is the water level in the outside box will match the inside box, and the water level is to low so the water has to fall more. If you raise the water level it doesn't have as long to travel and therefore isn't as loud.

I just did this on my Eclipse S and it works quite well. The only thing is that the water level, set just under the emergency drain, is just a little bit below the edge of the outer box.

Seems to me that Eshopps should've made the outer box a little taller... so that the water level in the outside box could match the water level inside of the aquarium without being so close of falling over the edge.

Would you still recommend raising the tube to have the water level just above the but or cutting a new tube to get it to that level? I have the eclipse M and just kinda dealt with the noise now for a few months. Super disappointed with the box.

I have a gate valve and get the idea behind closing it to make sure my 1 inch drain can handle the flow. It makes me incredibly nervous raising the water level in that box z

Yes, raise your emergency drain so that the water level submerges the inside to outside box opening. The main drain can remain as it is, it's the emergency drain you want to adjust. Then adjust the valve on your main drain to raise the outside box water level
