Eshopps RS300 Filter Sock Adjustment

I will post some pictures when I get home but figured I would start the discussion.

Is there anyone or any suggestions on how to modify the sump so that the circle filter socks can be used instead of the rectangle ones? The filter socks needed for this sump is so dang expensive... just trying to save some money!

Those are 2" x4" if I'm not mistaken so technically you could remove the center brace and make an adapter plate with a hole for a 4" sock. But like you said you'll loose filter surface area.

I cut the sock portion off the plastic and super glued egg crate ro the bottom. I just buy a role of filter floss and cut it to size. Set it on the egg crate. It works pretty well but when the flow gets shut off it will float up, I have not figured out how to stop it yet.

I will when I get home. I don't know if it is the right way but it is a whole lot cheaper than buying those socks. I did find some socks at reefbreeders website that were just a bit off but they would work if you want to stick with socks.

Haha anything that will help me get away from buying these things..... $28 for 3 is ridiculous!

The ones on reefbreeders were $4 apiece but the frame was just a little short so it left a very small gap where it sits in the sump.

What if you put another piece of eggcrate on top to keep it from floating?

Before i siliconed the sock portion down the whole thing would float up, eggcrate and all. I have two marinepure spheres on topp of it but somehow it kicks em off and up they go. I am thinking of buying th thin marinepure plate and cutting it to size.

No problem. I don't have any more ideas yet. I just put the spheres back on top the pads after the pumps restart after feeding.
