For some reason my Sump was foamy sunday morning and there is some kind of an algae like smell throughout my basement....

Tanks at 75f... skimmer skimming foamy gunk. No algae issues in DT.

Has anyone had this happen before? I didn't do anything to my tank in the last few days other than feeding it pellets, I put Reef roids just a tiny bit...as usual. I don't have macro.

So i did a 25% wc Sunday night. Now today
Foaming stopped now, just running a 2x54w t5 that's all...

maybe i should stop running lights for 3 days?

Running gfo about 1.5 cups via that IM minimax nano reactor... since Phosphates now 0.33 (10 times than normal i think)....

I normally dose vodka only.

ANN,alk , salinity normal....

Snails, hermits dead. Sea stars alive, some zoa open some closed. Sps bleached, some lps open.

Wc tmrw another 25%.....

Hope I'm not missing anything anyone else would do[emoji849]

My DT is in basement, and how can i remove the smell of algae like(die off) smell in the basement? Is there any absorbing pack i can use that'll make the air breathable!?

Thx.... pls advice...

I have a remote DSB 6"DEEP.
I've had this 8 years. The sand came from another tank. Yeah very dumb of me... when i started the DSB was a big thing to reduce nitrates....

So the trapped hydrogen sulfide came out somehow and killed the good bacteria and others and chain reaction followed.

Lesson learned. My next build will be BB!

IF YOU HAVE A DSB ... get rid of it! It's a ticking time(h2s) bomb literally....

My DT went from beautiful to Hiroshima overnight !

The only puzzling thing is...
Had it been just hydrogen sulfide, the fish would've died too.... they were alive for 4 days until i moved them out (they're still ok).

Only inverts and corals(mostly sps) died!

What could be the reason?

Heaters are normal no explosion etc...

I had lots of plastic magnets to hold stuff inside DT.

I store 1:5hcl in covered buckets in the basement.....

Can these be a reason?

(Broke down DT.... going with another build now)
