Eunicid Worm? Death by Coral Rx

While removing a frag from my rockscape this evening, I noticed a small worm on my glass. I looked closer and it appeared to have Eunicid like characteristics.

Instead of immediately killing it, I chose to do a little experiment on it. I quickly removed the worm then put it in a Coral Rx solution to see how resilient it was. Fortunately I captured it on film to share with you all :)

I probably should've asked for an ID prior to sending it to it's demise. In my research on your site, I'm finding that it appears to be beneficial. I guess I just jumped to conclusions thinking the feelers on the face represented that of a Eunicid worm.

I was totally on autopilot when I first saw it. My first instinct was to remove it/flush it. Upon reading that dips usually don't kill Eunicid worms, I decided to test the theory, (while under the impression that, that's what it was)

The interesting thing is that I mixed 2.5ml of Coral RX into two cups of saltwater, which is the calculated dose based off of the instructions and the worms reaction was far more intense than I've ever seen from a dip. Typically when I dip new frags I will see copepods/amphipods swimming around in the solution as if it doesn't effect them all that much. The worm on the other hand had a much stronger response.

Needless to say, I feel kind of bad for killing a harmless CUC member.

I kill them all the time with new additions that I dip and also when I vinegar dip equipment to clean them.

It's just seeing the little guy walking around in a few drops of water, checking out the environment, and then getting poisoned to death in close zoom just hit me. I need to stay away from my wife's soy-based vegetarian food... It's making me soft! [emoji33]
