I set up this tank a couple of months ago. I have been reefing for years. I’m not running a skimmer and I rely on my weekly water changes and refugium for nutrient export. I know I got a little lazy on my water changes and wasn’t watching the tank as much this last month. All it took was to lose some snails and then bam! Bacteria and algae bloom! Worst part is my nieces were coming to visit and they’ve never seen the tank. Their mother had been hyping up the Nemo tank for weeks. I went out and picked up a 15w UV sterilizer and with the help of a 30% water change and a weeks of being patient I’m back on track.

Just wanted to share. No matter how long you’ve been doing this we all screw up once and awhile.

Before and after UV
