I feel like every hobby has a high end no matter how cheap the entry cost. Aquariums can be cheap but you can get upwards of $100k invested.

I am into motorcycles and weight lifting, my first gym setup was $250 on Craigslist and my latest gym setup my wife and I built was over $50k. My first motorcycle was a ninja 650 from cycle trader for $1200 and 8 years later there are 4 Ducati’s and 2 KTMs in the garage. I feel if you truly get “into” something then it becomes and expensive hobby for sure.

I was trying to explain this to someone I work with the other day; I have a rule that I never question ones financial commitment to a hobby because no matter what if it’s important then everything goes out the window when it comes to money involved.

I am not into guns but some friends are, it’s not uncommon to have over $150,000 invested for the serious hobbyists! I have gamer friends that have spent over $20k on digital items and currency.

I was into fast cars a while back and spending money to mod them but switching to Tesla made me forget about buying anything else. :)

I used to race Porsches but got too expensive so switched to a Miata. A lot more cars to play with and more fun with 6A3008DD-C193-459F-89B9-4028CEFAEF83.jpeg closer wheel to wheel action

Scuba diving isn't cheap. Golf gets expensive when you lose as many balls as I do. And green fees, a cart, and $8 domestic cans of beer, can get out of control quickly when you play like I do.

Sports cards & sneakers are my other expensive hobbies. I’ve been collecting sports cards off and on my entire life. It’s funny to remember when I thought spending $100 on a card when I was a kid was the biggest transaction of my life, but these days I won’t bat an eye if I see something on my bucket list.

I was also into collecting comic books during the 2010s. The key there was collecting the first appearance of someone either right when they announced it, or speculate and buy it beforehand. Black Manta is my favorite villain and I had just picked up a really high grade first appearance of him a couple months before they announced the aqua man movie. I miss owning that comic but I couldn’t pass up the gains from selling.

Astrophotography. No limit to how much you can spend. Always something better.

Reefing if my current expensive hobby.
I’m a gamer as well, and have a pretty high end PC.
Looking for a project car/truck currently

Mine is collecting and grafting tropical fruit trees. Managed to get a few over the years that are almost unobtainable in the US. The plants themselves aren’t as expensive as some acro nubs but by the time I manage to get them to my house they definitely are.

Definitely enjoy Reef keeping the most, love cars , hate the greasy hands. Enjoying more American Iron Harley-Davidson vintage bikes 1936 to 48 with my brother we locate clean up and sell them to the highest bidder. Next bike project is a 1936 knucklehead all numbers matching American Iron.

Orange one went to Japan, how much you don't want to know.
