Experience Clown Tang keepers chime in

I just stumbled onto this old video on my phone and figured that I would share it here because I think that it is hilarious the way my clown tang is literally swimming circles around the competition.

Just like in African cichlids you can often look at body shape and head shape and know the aggressive potential.
I like part of this analogy. I used breed African cichlids (Mbunas and Haps). I like to use African cichlid husbandry logic with Tangs and Anthias. You either have one or a ton, you can't just have a few. Add them in order of size (small to large), preferably add serval at once, and the most aggressive last.

there’s a reason very few people own them long term haha. They’re beautiful fish but man they’re nasty when they’re mature.

I have a 3 inch in QT right now with a majestic angel, three yellow tangs and a white tail kole. I thought I'd chance it even with all the horror stories out there, but they are proving true. He's too small to be too big of a problem now but already quite a d*ck.

Might not make it into my DT.

Mine has been a model citizen in my 240 gallon. I got it from Petco when it was tiny.
