Same here.
switching all out to hydra hd's.

Already ordered for display and running on frag tanks.

Great lights, but shadow was to much and with the controllability of new led's for same price or less.

I've running two along with (4) T5's on my 90G for almost two years now. The combo works quite well, and the color is spectacular. I've put my old Radium MH up along side and it's difficult to see difference. SPS growth has been a little slower with these lights compared to old MH setup though. I have to say though, if I were to do it over today I would probably buy two AI Hydra 52HD's. Maybe not though. I ran Reefbreeders LEDs for a little over a year before this and changed to this and have been pretty happy.

The key seems to be supplemental lighting or more than one kessil.

The build quality is much better than my new hydra hd...

I am in the "Supplement LEDs with T5" crowd. I didn't have great success with Gen 3 Radions on my old tank. I added in 4 T5s and growth was crazy. I like the dawn/dusk and controlability of LED, but I think a T5 supplement is a must.

I am currently building a 180 peninsula and I am thinking a Radion in the middle, 2 Kessil A360We on the ends with T5 supplement.

I don't see the point in both.... Why not just switch to 100% t5?

My diy LEDs did good on their own. My experience with commercial leds has been poor.

For me, the dawn/dusk, controlability and extending the life of T5 tubes because they were only running 4 hours a day were all worth it.

Im with Terry here. I use 3 X 360-W and 4t5s to decrease shadowing. It's also my preference to have the controllability of dusk/dawn while using the t5s for only 4 hours daily.

Ok here's my 2 cents. Kessils give coral the most pop hands down. Now that said with sps they can have problems getting enough concentrated light spread out enough to maintain healthy sps. If I were you I would mix kessils and either t5 or box led lights to work as your muscle. I run 2 kessil 150we and 2 Chinese box led over my tank and growth and color are amazing!

That was the question I had. Did you need T5 with the Kessil to get the SPS to grow. I have a 24 gal cube that's on about 17" square. ATI shortest bulb is 24". So I put on in addition to the Kessil 160 orbit marine pro to see what will happen. Otherwise I will find a way to put T5 or go back to MH on a nano cube. Lol

I have used my kessil 360we's with great success. I have over my frag tank(a jbj 20g), one on my coralife 14g biocube, and when my new 48x20x24 tank comes in, i plan on using two more. I have not needed supplemental lighting. I do see some shadowing, but using two on a 48 inch tank should be more than enough.

I think there is no question that LEDs can provide the intensity needed. Frankly, most people run into problems running them too high. For me, I supplement with T5 to help blend the light, get better coverage, and I have just seen better growth with the combo. T5s grow corals no problem, but I don't like the lack of control. The On/Off, and the flat look they give the tank.
