Hey! So my LFS just got these beautiful spotted wrasse in stock (https://reefapp.net/en/encyclopedia/anampses-meleagrides). I am really tempted to get a pair of juveniles and would like to hear others' experiences with this fish.
I'm having a hard time finding much on this fish, but from what I read, they're considered difficult to keep. The main reason seems to be their feeding habits, but shouldn't be much of an issue since I feed live food quite often anyway. My tank also has a deep sand bed, which they apparently require, so that wouldn't be an issue either. It also says they can eat small crustaceans, but the smallest inverts I have are sexy shrimp, and since they "live" in a bubble tip anemone, I guess they'd be safe.
Otherwise, I have a 80g/300l tank with a pair of young clownfish, two yellowtail blue damsels and a scissortail dartfish. The damsels bicker with each other occasionally but mostly during feedings and it tends to break off quickly. I added the clownfish and the scissortail last, the damsels didn't seem to mind the scissortail much, but would occasionally go after the clowns the first few days. It was never too intense and or lasted very long though, and as the clowns stood their ground the blue damsels started to leave them alone. I don't think they'd pose a threat to a wrasse, but since this species seems to be extra shy, I thought it should be mentioned.
Any thoughts?
