Experiences with starry blenny

I have noticed on occasion recently my starry blenny will turn very pale and lose a lot of dark color. Few minutes later it’s back to looking normal. Very healthy and eats well. Just curious…

They commonly "camouflage". Mine got really dark sometimes and really pale at others. Perfectly normal.

lol isn’t it crazy?! I feel like mine goes white whenever he’s mad. He always goes white when I’m working in the tank. Then he’ll sneak up and nip the back of my forearm. Little brat scares me to death every time!

My tomini tang is such a jerk to him maybe it’s his way to try and defend himself? Why are bristletooths so mean to blenny? I had a yellow eye like tang who was HORRIBLE to my lawnmower blenny

Wow, same exact situation too. Tomini tang would peck on his side to run him off. My blenny is so big it didn’t hardly phase him. Hell just go squeeze himself between a rock and keep an eye on me lol

They can change colors. My purple tang could change color too, but just several shades of normal not complete different color.

I've had similar issues with my tomini tang picking on my lawnmower blenny. I'd assume the aggression is because they have direct competition for the same food sources.

Ultimately the blenny didn't make it, because the tang wouldn't let it eat enough. In my case, if I could have caught one of them, I'd have separated them and/or rehomed one.

Wow, I have a starry that does the same thing, turns light brown with dark brown highlights like a Dun horse. Also is actually the warden/controller of the tank and only has problems with the two spot bristletooth, which they are the same length currently. The tang just pushes him out of the way, the blenny has just tried to take over the whole tank, the others just ignore it. The blenny is such a hog with the food also, some days I'm afraid he will explode
