Expired trident reagents?

My lfs recent gave me a pack of expired trident reagents for free because I was a good customer. He said that they don’t really expire and will be fine to use. It expired back in July of 24. Is it still ok to use?

I would use it, compare it to another non-expired test kit, and if the results are good enough, keep using them.

That’s a good idea but the thing is I don’t have any other test kits

They don’t expire. That’s a Neptune scam. I’ve got some that are 2+ years “expired” and they work just fine. It’s the same exact chemical ABC reagents sells and they don’t have an expiration.

I would get some! Or bring your water to your LFS and they can usually test for you.

Or compare to your current reagents if you trust their numbers?

While this is true, as the chemicals are stable, but if they are stored improperly or something, water can evaporate and mess up readings, etc. not sure if the expired reagents were new in box or something

Not likely. You’d have to have the cap loose. And if that occurred they would spill and it would be noticeable.
