Exposing UV Light directly on GHA

Similar to passing UV light directly on the sand bed to eliminate dinos/diatoms, I am wondering if applying the UV light directly on a clump of Green Hair Algae would be effective in eradicating it.

Anyone tried before?

I haven't tried on GHA but I have tried on Corraline as well as bubble algae and both turned white and died. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just make sure you don't hit your rocks as it will kill any beneficial bacteria.

Thanks - hard to avoid since the GHA is on the rocks. It a small portion so I suppose it should be that large an impact.

I'm not a big fan of using UV light in this fashion. Sure, it can work, but I feel that it can be dangerous to you, your family members, and even unsuspecting pets. You wouldn't want to get that UV light in anyone's eyes, is my concern.

Green hair algae is far from the worst pest to deal with. Have you tried anything else such as manual removal, lowering dissolved organics, or increasing your clean up crew?
