I'm currently dealing with a strange loss of color in the male Bartlett's anthias of my pair, and it got me thinking. I want to add a vanuatu exquisite wrasse at some point. I know Scott's fairies can lose color if not kept with females. Is this also exhibited in exquisite fairies? If I need to add a harem instead of a single, I need to plan for it now. :)

If he is kept with females or other male fairy wrasses he will keep his color.

Correct. (males of different species)

And yes, the species is prone to fading a bit without either.

Thanks, guys. Maybe I can get ahold of a Flame to go with it (fat chance, but hey...I can dream XD)

Does anyone here have a photo of a female vanuatu exquisite? I haven't seen any around.

If you find a source for the Vanuatu variety grab it and then please send me a pm lol! I've been keeping my eye open for one for a while but for some reason they don't seem to be available very often.

Yep they always seem to have the African in stock but not the Vanuatu. I did sign up for an email alert a year or two ago. I have received one alert but they were gone quickly.

Actually, you might pm nicewrasse on the subject. He might be able to source one for you. :)
