I bet that you took the pics of the halides without orange lens...

This is no filter and filter.

This system is currently only running Kalk at 2mlm. Keeps alk at 7.5.
Once it gets to 4mlm I will start A4R or 2 part, still deciding.
The secret, if you want to call it that, is live rock and stability. I only have 30lbs of it in the system.
No3 and po4 are handled by the 9430dc skimmer right now.
6g WC once a month.
If or when needed I use Vodka for no3 control and Pminus for phosphate control.

Glass is used mainly to keep water and salt off the reflector and bulb. If it were a double ended, you'd need the glass for the UV protection.

I prefer glass covers. Ask me what happens when a splash of water hits a MH bulb just right when on?
Picking glass from a system is not fun.
If your fixture is 2' above the tank like lfs stores then you can get away with no glass most of the time.
I clean water spots off the glass every week and the fixture is 14" off the surface.

Painted the shell with high temp white. Looks better than the spotted aluminum, lol.

I powered the spectra today , just to that jts o.k and turned on....and woow , this fixture producing TONS of light
I've turn the brightness of my cell phone camera down, it is almost impossible to take pics with normal settings

Was. I think Giesemann still sells it in Europe and they will ship here. Great company. Probably one of the best lights ever made.

On your other tank it looks like you have 3 XR15s over it? What mount is that? I'm about to put 3 XR30s over a tank and the RMS mounts are trash. They sag.

You can order this fixture directly from giessmann factory...they send worldwide.
But ,this fixture is not cheap as I said before.
The HQI ballast are quite! This is great .
They do heat up , but not too much .

Thanks I will take a look. I can get this, ebay, but have to drive to LA, 8-9hrs for $850, Aquamedic brand. If it was 400 wats I would get it.
DE 250 hqi with power compacts.
This will make someone happy for the price.

I have a 12" cage behind my 3 main systems.

Got 1 done. New socket, need to secure a ground attatchment and wire it to a lamp cord.
I may do one in black.
