The simplest things can cause the biggest problems... glad the failsafe worked. Maybe run a dehumidifier in the room to help dry the floor
Thanks. Make up water only needs to get to 71 and it's 68 now.

Yea it was my mistake but it could have been worse.

All fish ate and all corals look no different.

Well first disaster I have had in quite a long time.
When I put the other 9430dc in I did not notice that the 2 front suction cups came off the return pump.
The pump was at an angle and the zip tie did not hold.
I got up and heard a noise and the hose had come off putting 20+g's all over the floor.
It shot the water straight up.
No issues with equipment.
The tunze high level alarm shut the ato off.
The sg was still 1.026, in the tank so that was a gift.
Temp is at 71.
I used the wet vac to clean it up but it probably ruined the laminate floor. There is still water under the stand. There was a puddle of water in the kitchen too.

This is the first major tank disaster I have had in 30 years so im lucky. If I was not home it would have been a total loss.

So I am making 30g's now but waiting for temp to come up.

Everything in the tank look ok so I think it will be ok. It may take a few hours to get the temp up.

It does not look to bad in the pic but time will tell what happens to the flooring.

@X-37B ,

most LVP has a rather high water resistance ( ask how I know) and when I pulled it up, there was basically nothing under it, and the backer board prevented it from going any further.

Back up and running.
Temp 77
Sg 1.0265
All 7.2 down from 7.6

Very lucky I was home.
Right around 20g's lost and replaced.

Fish eating
Corals happy

Lost my ato 3153
It got sprayed. Overnighted a new 3154.
I will need a back up now. I have a red sea ato that I did not use on the rs170 but it's app drivin and I prefer Tunze anyway.
The 3153 was 8 years old.

I did have a green/orange coral on the back wall. The top part was out of the water and does not look good. I'm not sure what it is, maybe a cyphastra.
I will get a pic later.

I got myself anew camera for Xmas, Nikon D850, and will get some pics in a week or so once I get it up.
I was into photography 30 years ago and now have time since I retired.

Start the new year with some pics.
Tank will be 9 months in a couple weeks.
I lowered the whites to 30%.
Red, green 20%.
Rest 80%.
I did this a week ago.
Better colors although hard to get a pic with only 30% white.
In person it looks whiter.
Getting 320-350 par across the rock work with all leds on.
Uv/v 100%
Stags in the back at 240-280.
Front of tank 210-230.
Sides 175-200.
The 3 or4 uv/v bars give 40-50 par when on.

Alk has been steady at 7.5.
Po4 .05
No3 15- goal.<5

Running ozone for 4hrs only through the skimmer.
Orp is 400

I ran all parameters for the new year.
Going to send out icp next week to compare. I will run all parameters again before I send in the sample.

No3 is now down to 10 so the no3 reactor is working well.

I need to get some better pics with my camera soon.

SG 1.026
Temp 77°
Alk 7.8
Ca 440
Mag 1260
K 430
PO4 .1
NO3 10

I got a new Indo colony and proceeded to break it. I now have 4 pieces in 2 systems.

I am mixing one scoop of esv dried phyto to 3 cubes in a cup once a day to see what if anything it may do to the system.
I have noticed better polyp extention on many corals so we will see what it produces down the road.
This is a frag I have had for a couple months. It's starting to color up now along with others.

No3 was 4 today.
Looking for <5 so it's good. I will tune the sulfer reactor to maintain <5 now.
It took about 2 months to go from 40 to 4 running the reactor.
Colors look good.
Po4 was .147 today. Feeding phyto with fish food so it contributes.
I added a 1/2 cup phosgaurd to the sumps basket area.
New Indo coral I got a week ago.

Which shop did you go to?

Tank looks great man! I cannot keep the bottom of mine clean like that.

My BB is an algae mat. I have to keep turbos to help.

Aqua Life in Rocklin is where I got the last one.
I don't clean the bottom and once coralline takes off it covers pretty quick.
I have 60+ snails and reduced to one urchin.

what do you use for phosphate control? i always seem to have higher phos/ low Nitrate. the different tech methods you use are intriguing to me, just not sure if i watn to take the plunge

I use 2 skimmers now and run ozone through one for 5-6 hrs.
Ozone reactor was taken offline. I get good water clarity with less ozone and equipment.
Nitrate reactor keeps nitrates in range and is simple to run.
Minimal WC at 10% every 2-3 months.
300 micron mesh socks.
I feed rather heavy around 7+ cubes a day mixed with phyto.
Phosphate control, when needed is done with phosgaurd in a mesh bag like this.

I guess I missed the addition of the sulfur denitrator.

Can you tell us a bit about it? Haven’t heard of them in years and my nitrate has crept up to 35ppm.

I started the Deltec sulfer reactor about 2 months ago. No3 was 40+ after 150lbs of GLR.
The reactor is simple in operation.
I pull the water through the reactor with a Kamoer pump. I run no recirculating pump.
It took about 6 weeks to get the no3 to start comming down.
No3 was 4 two days ago and I will monitor it to keep it below 5.
I'm not worried if it goes to zero because I feed heavy but I should be able to dial it in with little effort to keep it below 5.
I will run an icp test in a week or so to see where sulphate is at along with the rest of my parameters and use as a reference.

I only filled the reactor a little over 1/2 way and could have used less but right now I'm happy with the results.

Following along. Nice looking display. However, you can keep the trigger fish.

Do we a favor and post full tank shot with white light: anything between 6500 -10,000 Kelvin.

It's a large file fish that's eats nory by hand. I always have one per system.
I have no aptasia, lol.
Just took this. I don't know the K rating. My 40 white lights are only at 30%.
