Hello everyone,

I’ve got a question about adding extra mechanical filtration to my system. A little background, I’ve got a 90 gallon DT inline with a DIY 75 gallon basement sump. Currently my filtration consists of Octo INT 150 skimmer, very large macro algae section and multiple bio bricks and live rock ( 20 pounds) tank has been running for 4 years, evolving a nano system into the current size. I mix kale into my ATO reservoir and do weekly water change. Recently I’ve added a Yellow tang to the tank and it’s become accustomed to eating Nori daily. Along with this I’ve added an Acathophyillia coral that I’ve been target feeding.

All this leads me to wanting to increase my mechanical filtration. I like the idea of a roller Matt but can’t justify the price. Sorry forgot to mention I’m a frugal reefer.

Question:
Would attaching a canister filter loaded with reusable filter foam and disposable filter floss mimic a roller Matt.

Would adding another or larger skimmer be a better option

Just curious and thinking.
Thanks in advance,

Kale was auto corrected from Kalk
Kalk used in Diwater ATO
