I've got an unknown brand of fan that I got socondhand. I took it apart and cleaned it real well as it was coated in salt and dust. Everything works light wise but the fan doesn't spin with just powering it on, I have to move it manually and basically jump start it. Anybody know any solutions to this or dealt with this before?

Hi, I assume you mean a powerhead? The fan is inside the tank? You can try soaking it in a mixture of water with citric acid, this will melt away any organics or buildup that might have occurred where the impeller is connected inside. An overnight in citric acid brings everything back to factory clean.

Or post a short video or some pictures, someone might recognize that brand and be able to give you better help. Good luck

No, it's a light. The fan inside the light for cooling, my bad, I should have worded it differently.

I think that pictures would help immensely.

Most cooling fans are simple bldc cooling fans found in many different applications. You may be able to find a suitable substitute on amazon.
Replacing it is an option, but I can't recall if it's a plug or soldered. I dont know that I have the stuff to solder and don't know if it'd be safe to splice wires on something that sits above saltwater.
