As people have figured out how to keep corals - and as there appears to be more and more people entering the hobby all the time - there are now a TON of coral "vendors" flooding the market. From the hobbyist perspective, you really have to go the extra mile to get noticed as a vendor: coral health, variety/selection, frag size, coral photos, customer communication, shipping process/policies, prices... it ALL matters.
I have purchased corals - specifically, acropora- from pretty much all of the top vendors, and I can tell you that FarmerTy Frags is absolutely among the best experiences I've ever had. Ty's selection is amazing and ever-expanding, with very accurate photos of his corals (no blue-light specials.) Frag sizes are generous, even on the more expensive pieces. (I bought a piece sight-unseen and was very pleasantly surprised by the frag size on arrival). His shipping/packing is unrivaled. There are a few vendors who I think are in the same league, but none that are better. On a recent order, the delivery date turned out to be colder where I am than it had been in a few weeks; no problem...Ty's frags were nice 'n toasty right out of the box. Communication was fast 'n smooth throughout, and- even though I only bought 3 frags- the package deal I got was fantastic (and included a beautiful freebie!)
For those who don't already know about Ty, do yourself a favor and look up FarmerTy Frags. If you want to learn more about his system, check out his build thread... tons of great info and coral photos!
