Fashionably sluggish in the reef: Have you ever picked a snail for its looks?

Snails are part of the clean-up crew. They are utilitarian. They are primarily in the tank because of their usefulness and impact, right? While that is the most common reason that most reef keepers add snails to their aquariums, have you ever picked a snail for its looks? I mean, some snails can be especially beautiful, and their patterns can be visually striking. Some snails can even be quite entertaining to watch. Please tell us about your experience selecting and observing the snails in your tank. Oh, and please share pictures of your good-looking snails if you have them!

I got a group of turbos for my sump which has a lot of GHA, but one had an awesome shell that looked like mother of pearl. That one went in the display lol

I get my utilitarian critters first, but that doesnt mean they have to be bland.

Trochus snail and nerite snails look pretty good to start. Much better than typical turbos or astreas.

Then you have cool snails you can add later. Like those star snails and cowries.

Just because its for clean up doesnt mean it has to be bland.
