This week I was lucky enough to run by two of these Anthias at my LFS. I bought them both and I thought they'd pair up since one was fairly larger than the other... they hung out for a day or so but now they are on separate corners of my tank! I think I read somewhere they are solitary and somewhere else they do well in pairs if introduced together.....the point is I didn't find much info... sooo I wanted to see what other Fathead owners experience has been with these cool fish!!

Just be patient with them if they are not fighting a lot. They very well may end up fast friends. If things start to get nasty between them, and stay that way, one of them has to go unfortunately!

Yeah I too would like to know what the differences are between a male and female anthias, or if you can even tell them apart.

don't have any pics right now... but will try to get some soon... they are still too shy! The fathead anthias has a more rounded body... I read in an article that there is no known sexual dimorphism with coloration... except that the males tend to be larger!!

In this species apparently size and temperament is what we can use to distinguish them.

here is a link with some of the only info I found that was specific to this species
