Picked up a favia coral frag-where is best placement

They like low light and low flow. I typically keep/grow them on the sand bed.

Some context: Dipsastraea (ex-Favia) can be found in a wife variety of environments, from intertidal habitats with intense sunlight and little-to-no current, to reef crests with high current and high sunlight, to outer slopes/walls, where sunlight permeates less and the flow is lower. The idea that Dipsastraea (and most other LPS corals to that extent) are low flow/lighting corals is a misconception.

I have a few Favias. All are on the rock work but low in the tank. They can tolerate higher lighting but certainly don’t require it. Give them space though, as they have a potent sting.

Just got one . Its on the bottom getting 130-140 par. Lots of extention at night.

That looks like a Platygyra, nor Dipsastraea (ex-Favia). Note the meandroid corallite structure.
