The more I read about coral feeding, the more I'm moving towards more natural hands off approach. So your thoughts, ideas, and experience would be appreciated. This is a coral only, no fish.

My idea is as follows. Stock the tank with a combination of Copepods, Rotifers, and Phytoplankton. The companies I have found are Algae Barn, and Coral Reefing.

Good plan.
You can also just drop some fish food in there to keep the n/p up.

I actually don't think you need the pods , but they are good to have.

Ok, for anyone reading this, I was going to use a GFO/Carbon rector on a 40G breeder with no sump. In fact I'm thinking of splitting the 40G breeder into two sections, one 24 x 18 and the other 12 x 18, with this last section split into two 12 x 9, one holding cheato, and the other sand and live rock. Had considered a HOB filter with rubble in it, could also go with a HOB refugium.

Anyway my question is, running a GFO/Carbon reactor would this not suck up all my Zooplankton and phytoplankton that I want the corals to eat?

I always plan to spot feed LPS corals, yet never more than 1x per week. My favorite food is Fauna Marin LPS pellets.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
