my serpent sea star typically gets small pieces of raw shrimp to eat. My Molly miller blenny decided that he also wants raw shrimp to eat.....so I give in and feed both.

I have tried feeding clam as something new. I tried this again, tonight. I cut the clam meat into really small pieces. that meat is very chewy. it's like gnawing on a piece of fatty meat. they definitely don't care for it. I'm guessing it has to be the texture.

got me thinking, what fish eat clam meat?

is there another softer meat like shrimp that fish can eat easily? i'd like to change it up a bit

I've fed clams to lionfish, pufferfish, eels, starfish, anemones, etc. Clams were always in the rotation for my carnivores

I tried scallops before shrimp came into the picture and they spit that out too. Haven't tried that in a long time though
I use the small Patagonia scallops from Walmart. No additives in the ingredients. My Molly miller, clowns and shrimp all go crazy for it. My chromis will go after the small bits in the water column.

I've been through just about every food source there is trying to get a new copperband to eat recently and clams was one of the things I tried. I tried live clams, frozen whole clams, frozen clams on a half shelf, frozen chopped clams and chopped clam meat I made myself. None of my fish were interested in any of it, even my emperor angelfish that eats literally everything and anything.

I finally cracked it with live mussels. Crack one open and drop it in and the copperband goes right for it and rips it up with gusto. Emperor loves it and so do all the inverts. I let them have at it for a hour then take it out.

I feed raw calamari, shrimp& clams as a treat. I freeze the chunks then when ready to feed I take out frozen chunks of each get my cheese grader and grade some of each in a cup and feed. Pieces are perfect size easier then cutting up and freezing kills off any potential disease or parasites in food. The corals go crazy as well
