Fern Caulerpa Mexicana Macroalgae

I recently planted some new macroalage. The fern is going clear but do you believe it’s just adjusting or going sexual?

The other seagrass caulerpa is doing just fine.

The parameters when I noticed it were
Nitrate 5-7ppm.
Phos .11
Salinity 1.025
Temp 78-79 F
Alkinity 8-9

Last night I dosed the nitrates up to 10-15 ppm

I added some before and after pics so you can see the color change.

I am most familiar with a different feather caulerpa, Caulerpa Parvispora. It is an extremely fast grower that when deprived of nutrients goes sexual as a survival technique. In one case, I noted that the main stem enlarged substantially in size and begin to ooze white stuff. I immediately added ammonia to the tank and removed sections of Caulerpa that were oozing. In my sceanario, there was a lot that needed removal in a small tank.

What is the other Caulerpa species in your tank.

I'd love to! About a month ago I began cycling this new 40 gallon tank, I transferred rock, corals, 2 fish, snails, 1 shrimp, 1 conch, and some macro algae from a small 10 gallon tank. Everything successfully transferred over. I used carribsea special grade reef sand. I have a RODI system and a meter to measure 0 TDS. I use Instant Ocean Reef Salt. I have an amazon reef light that's intensity adjustable.

The new macros have been in the aquarium about a week even, the others are doing fine, just this one is whitening.

I cycled with Dr Timms, and after the cycle I use MB7 to maintain bacteria. I make sure Phos and Nitrates don't fall near 0. Due to my 10 gallon i had to fight dynos but I won. The rock and livestock came from that aquarium.

I run a homemade sump I created out of the 10 gallon.

In this new tank I have that fern caulerpa, Seagrass Caulerpa Prolifera, Birds Nest Gracilaria, Purple Fauchea, these with the exception of the fern, they're doing great!

Aww! It’s harder to do nothing than to do something lol. I’ll keep an eye on it and let ya know how it does.

Well it melted lol. I'm bummed out but it's okay I think it was a mixture of a few things. Tank too new so I was trying to balance nitrates. Also, my reef light was on the weaker side and missing red and green color spectrum. Some good news, my seagrass caulerpa that I've tried to grow several times before, is growing now. It has new baby leaves!
