Ferrous gluconate and carbon

I want to dose my macro algae with this iron, will activated carbon bind it? How about in FW? Why or why not and is there a way to tell what carbon readily binds? Thanks Randy!

In seawater, carbon mostly binds molecules that are partly or completely hydrophobic.

Ferrous gluconate is definitely not hydrophobic at all and I do not think it will appreciably bind to GAC in seawater:
